THINK before you criticise!

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood
The next morning, while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbour hang the wash outside.
That laundry is not very clean, she said, she doesn’t know how to wash correctly.
Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.
Her husband looked on, but remained silent.
Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments.
About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: Look! She has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this.
The husband said:
I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows!

And so it is with life:
What we see when watching others, depends on the purity of the window through which we look.
Before we give any criticism, it might be a good idea to check our state of mind and ask ourselves if we are ready to see the good rather than to be looking for something in the person we are about to judge.

The photography talk by Canon

Shin gave me a stack of tickets for the talk, it's free of charge. So, i chose to go rather staying at home, just sitting in front of my best 'companion' ever, my lappy.
The talk was mainly focused on those sophisticated cameras, Canon EOS 5D Mark II, the model mentioned most in the talk as example. Since the talk was organised by Canon, all the information discussed was based on the latest technology of their products. The latest model come with the self-cleaning function as the most common problem problem with DSLRs is dirty lenses with frequent use. Other advantage over choosing Canon is that it has built-in image stabilisation in the lense. Also, as it has wide product range such as camera, printer, medical imaging, projectors and so forth, it is considered a stable company, a company you can rely on and need not to worry about spare parts in the future despite how bad is the economy..huhu..guess what? the speaker, a professor told us to think twice before getting any gadget. In this digital age, there'll be a brand new phone model every week, for laptops, 1 month, digital cameras, 6 months...waa...that means the gadgets get older faster than humans..LOL
"If you still use OHP(overhead projector) nowadays, it would simply mean you're living in the dinasour age"...this is funny!
The talk was not as i expected and run out of the topic sometimes. It is all about the technology used in the camera system but not on the capturing techniques. Besides that, the speaker is a...sort of herbalist, a researcher on the local plants. He invested in the Canon 5D as he need a superior quality pictures for the plants. The lense he chose was macro lense equipped with 2 flash lights sideways. To show us the plant photos, he elaborated a little on a plant(out of the supposed topic). However, this could make the presentation more interesting rather than just focusing on the cameras. In fact, the herb he introduced caught my attention more than the expensive and complicated DSLR.*LOL* it's Morianga tree, a local plant that treat almost every disease from diabetes, slimming, athritis, constipation, to etc with the use of different parts of the tree.
we got the 1st experience of touching and see closely DSLR models after the talk..the beginner model costed RM2200 with the basic lense..wow..sounds cheap...consider the lense!! RM5000++ *fainted*

Canon EOS 5D Mark II

macro lense with twin lights

different lenses of different quality, the one with red line is *HO LIAO*(of high quality)

The Pursuit of Happyness

Another great movie by Will smith..
In fact, it was nominated for Oscar
Forgot where I get to know about the movie..
either from newspaper or random search on the internet...
watched 'i am legend' and love Will smith thereafter..

It's a movie based on a true story of Chris Gardner, a poor guy on pursuing happiness by struggling to live a better life. In the same time, he got to take care of his 5 y/o son, Christopher because his wife ran away due to financial problems. After six months of internship, from a selling bone density scanner, Chris was hired by a big company, Dean Witter as a stock broker..
After years of never-ending struggle, he founded an investment firm and finally earn a fortune by selling the minority stake in his brokerage firm.
another movie that made me cry, not because it is a sad movie, but how he went through all the hard time and finally succeeded. From a literally poor guy to a rich fellow...

-Chris with his son & the scanner-

-happy times together during their hard times-

-homeless(at railway station), when money is tight-

Moral of the story: politeness, sincerity, and perseverance are the keys to success!

Chris gardner told his son " Don't ever let somebody tell you, you can't do something, not even me"
"You got to dream, you got to protect it, people can do something themselves, they wanna tell you, you can do it'
"if you want something, go and get it"
